Tattoo After Care

1. Remove bandage after 20 to 24 hours. Discard and do not re-bandage.

2. Gently wash the area with mild, non-perfumed soap such as Dove or Ivory unscented.

3. Pat dry with clean towel. After initial washing do not wash again.

4. Avoid pools, baths act. and chlorinated water for the first two weeks. Showering is fine, just keep the tattoo out of the direct spray.

5. Apply small amount of tattoo goo or after inked (available for sale in the shop), or vitamin e cream (get it at the pharmacy). Use sparingly, around three or four times a day, for the next two weeks. DO not use any other products on your tattoo and do not share after care lotions with others.

6. Avoid direct sun exposure for the first two weeks and tanning for two months. The sun is an enemy to your tattoo. It will alter the colour of the pigment. Any future tanning will cause your tattoo to fade. Wear a high SPF sun block or keep it covered while in the sun.

7. Do not pick the scabs on your tattoo, scratch it, allow your buddies to slap it, or allow tight clothing to rub against or irritate the area.

8. Follow the above directions carefully or call Malefic Tattoos (905 813-7309) if you have any concerns or questions about the after care procedure. Do not take the advice of a well meaning friend when it comes to tattoo after care, no matter how many tattoos they have.

9. Depending on how well your tattoo heals and how your skin takes the pigment, a touch up is sometimes necessary. We do complimentary touch ups, it it's needed, within the first four weeks. We do not do complimentary touch ups on tattoos that are done on the hands, feet, neck or coverup work or pieces that are done in sessions at an hourly rate.

10. If you decide in the future that you no longer want your tattoo, for whatever reason, we offer laser tattoo removal. You must wait at least one year before it can be removed. Laser removal is also beneficial for lightening existing tattoos to be covered up. Please speak with us at any time for more information.

caution: tattoos are addictive!
